Right to Information (RTI)
Your constitutional right to access public information under Article 19-A.
📖 What is RTI?
Under Article 19-A of the Constitution, the Right to Information (RTI) is a fundamental right of every citizen of Pakistan to access information in all matters of public importance, subject to reasonable restrictions imposed by law.
A citizen can access information from a government department, or from a private body substantially financed by the government. RTI boosts transparency, accountability, elimination of corruption, and improvement of public service delivery.
🤝 How TEVTA Facilitates RTI
TEVTA considers enabling citizens to hold public officials accountable a legal and ethical right. TEVTA has published a Pro-Active Disclosure on the direction of the Chief Information Commission — covering functions, powers, rules, budget, and officer directories.
📝 How to File an RTI Request
To ensure your application is entertained as per law (u/rule 10(2) of PT&RTIA, 2013):
1. Prepare your documents — Gather the required documents.
2. Write your application — Use the sample format.
3. Submit to the PIO — Give it to TEVTA’s Public Information Officer.
4. Or apply online — Via RTI Punjab Commission website.

Note: You can request information for one (01) year only, under rule 10(c).
